Danielle ‘Dani’ Moravek, 32, Norfolk, VA, is a Functional Nutritionist with a passion for nutritional psychiatry, food justice, and wellness for all. She lives with her wife, Tami, and their two rescue dogs, Tad and Archie.

She started her own company, Creative Nutrition Company in 2019 after graduating from Maryland University of Integrative Health with her Master of Science degree in Integrative Health and Human Clinical Nutrition.

Creative Nutrition Company is an online business that is on a mission to make sure that knowledge about the importance of diet, health, and positive lifestyle changes is accessible to everyone. The company is designed to be a guide, provide one-on-one consultations, recipes, and make lifestyle suggestions. Her goal is to make sure her tips and suggestions reach a wide range of people from all demographics and walks of life regardless of economic status. She wants her company to specifically target minority communities such as the Black and LGBTQIA communities where accurate information on health-related issues are scarcer.

On the surface, her life could be seen as ordinary. However, Dani says it took her a long time to get where she is today.

In this interview, Dani goes in depth about her personal struggles with her relationship with people, medications, and even food. Battles that stem from mental, physical, and sexual abuse she endured as a child. She also discusses how those battles put her in a position to want to help others trying to get over similar obstacles.

Dani hopes to motivate people with her story of overcoming PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), bipolar 1 disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder caused by childhood traumas. She urges people to take their mental and physical health more seriously.

In her story she talks about how she took control of her own life again by weaning herself off of the seven prescribed medications and alcohol for the betterment of her own mind, body, and spirit through medicinal, whole foods.

Her story highlights the need of a business dedicated to helping people feel better. This is especially important during the coronavirus pandemic where it is easy to fall into a negative headspace and neglect one’s needs. Dani believes that proper diet and lifestyle changes can make all the difference in feeling, ‘okay,’ to feeling the best you can feel.

“Anyone can take their own personal steps to wellness, I just want to get them pointed in the right direction,” Dani says.
